More on Adding Depth to Your Manuscript

I enjoy reading literary novels. I like their depth.

Knowing more about everything helps. Luckily, TV can help. Really, it depends on what you watch. Lately, my fave channels have been TCM (love silents and watching how life was in the early 1900's) and the History Channel.

Have you seen The Presidents? which chronicles all the U.S. presidents from Washington to the present. Documentaries? Yes, they've changed. They're so much more engaging now.

Shalla, Writing and Roses

Ah yes, I write therefore I am. But life happens too, so I’m also propagating roses. (Sound confusing? I’ve been reading literary novels :) Love the lyrical type full of symbolisms, anyway, I am planting roses.

It’s good to do something that help the mind wander --energizing to the spirit and imagination.

So, take time off and do something relaxing and creative.

Grandma's Mason Jar Propagating Roses by Rooted Cuttings (we have roses I just love, so I'm cloning them)

How-To Guide for Planting Bulbs (Okay, so we have freesias, crocus and narcissus too)

Lavender (Dreamy scents, so sensual-- cloning time!)

eHows: Growing

Oh, and I'm drinking lots of tea now... sodas, maybe once every few months... Wow! I can grow my own herb tea? Organically. Cool.
Garden It

Catnip Cloning

Information about the cultivation of the Wisteria (I love this plant, I should name mine)

Venus Fly Trap and how to propagate it

Wish me luck!

Revisited: SELF-EDITING for FICTION WRITERS-- Mastering the Art of Editing

A wonderful Literary Agent, suggested Self-Editing for Fiction Writers as a great book to help edit novels. So, I immediately ordered it from Amazon and gave it a try.

Adding Depth to Your Manuscript

They say we should write what we enjoy reading. Good. Makes the process a lot more fun, entertaining. So, last night, as I got ready to continue editing my manuscript, I scanned novels I like; Beloved by Toni Morrison; The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, etc. and I realized, what appeals to me most are lyrical novels with depth.

For one, The Unbearable Lightness of Being is full of philosophical and historical references used expertly in such a way that they’re part of the artistry, the music. Love, love, love that. Oh great ones! Bestow onto me your greatness!!! (with whip cream and cherry on top)

Well, this only means one thing… time to get with the program. So, I’m looking for books that would help.
